OUR MISSION
The mission of UF Opera is to continue the School of Music’s rich tradition of opera performance by offering students numerous stage opportunities in a variety of operatic styles and performance venues. In addition to the educational and performing opportunities available to its students, one of the UF Opera's foremost goals is to introduce the exciting world of opera to the regional community by producing musical dramas that appeal to a wide range of audiences. Recent main stage performances include: Hansel and Gretel, The Barber of Seville, La Bohème, Tosca, La Traviata, The Mikado, The Magic Flute, Susannah, Die Fledermaus, and the world premiere of Stella Sung’s The Red Silk Thread. UF Opera produced a well-received scenes production in the fall of 2023 and will be mounting a double bill of Rossini's La Scala di Seta and Sir Arthur Sullivan's The Zoo this spring.
